Morning Awakening by Mystik-Rider Morning Awakening by Mystik-Rider
This morning was the coldest morning since the beginning of the season. (-27C, but it felt like -800C!!!!) Never the less, when you need to shoot, you need to shoot at any cost! ;)

Anyway, Daniel did a great job here... almost lost his boots and froze his finger, but it was worth the trouble
------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi anne...its another question

i see the color in the sky its really great. are you using grad filter or photoshop to take this picture ? and how you can get another color bellow the blue (pink or purple). using filter too? can you discribe how to make color like that... thank you

Hello again =D

For this shot, a polarizing filter was used. The soft pink color below the tree is due to the morning light. Daniel process this picture in lightroom, and I finish it in photoshop, selecting : Image/Adjustments/ Shadow-Highlight... Then I will burn and dodge (if necessary) part of the picture, remove undesirable object, and finally I will add sharpness, and save for web.

Sometime we use a grad filter no 4, Cokin, it gives nice result.

I hope that this answers your question.

Thank you for your consideration, I appreciate that a lot. And I love your pictures of Indonesia, keep up the great work my friend!

I agree. Very important to do your white balance before shooting. Always check your pic right away, and adjust the exposer if necessary. =D

your answer its complete. and i just want ask more about metering you use (dynamic metering, partial metering or spot metering) to get all detail. its harder if we capture snow. where you take metering on the object ?(spot metering in tree or grey stone to get neutral color) and i think you use compesation (equivalent -1/-2/-3). sorry its to much question. i just want to minimal using photoshop. and are you not afraid for your lenses when you use in cold?

(i really afraid in cold place it make my lenses have some mushroom in lenses). thank you dear, i hope you not objection to answer my question.

regards
pieter

No problem! It is always a pleasure to exchange tips photos with fellow photographers! =D ( By the way, what is your name? I like to call people by their name :aww: )

For the metering, it depends on the conditions of light. If the subject of the photo to expose is in the shadows, we'll use the meter spot for the shadow, and the other hand, if the lighting conditions are more intense, will measure the hight lights. For this particular picture "Morning Awakening", Daniel use partial measuring ( most of the time, we use that measuring).

But we also take more than 1 pic, we do 3 pictures --> one slightly under-exposed ( -1/3EV), and the second one slightly over-exposed ( +1/3EV), again according to your camera's light meter. This assure you to get one good shot, but keep in mind to do underexposed when you shoot in RAW. But, you know, if you shot in RAW, you'll have no choice to process them in a software development such as Lightroom, Photoshop or NikonNX.

For the frost bite of the lens, there is no problem. The lentils are hermetically sealed, and well adapted to winter conditions. We have taken pictures with temperatures as cold as -27C and no problems occurred. Of course, when we go inside, the lenses of the objective will get some mist, but the heat will quickly dried up. No mushroom will grow there ;) , believe me, unless you let the camera in a wet condition all the time. So don't be afraid to going out on the cold, the only bad thing that could happen, it's that you'll freeze your fingers!!! :lmao:

That's all for now. Hope my answer is complete. Will keep in touch dear friend!

Hi Pieter! You live in a beautiful country, very exotic. I really enjoyed your pictures, cause you show the real life of real people. That is a big challenge for the must of us.

My name is Anne. I take pictures with my husband, Daniel.
We are a couple you share the same passion, photography. We're not young, nor old, let say that we are just in the middle! ;)
We live in Quebec, Canada, where the weather could go below -25C quite often, and where the summer could be very very hot! :giggle:
And we're looking to see more of your work. =D
